As February turns to March, South Nation Conservation is warning about rising water levels in the region.
The organization has issued a Water Safety Statement, urging people living in flood-prone areas to take precautions.
According to the organization, temperatures are set to drop below freezing Wednesday night before returning to double-digit daytime highs over the weekend.
That, coupled with rainfall in the forecast, could lead to increased flows and “nuisance flooding” in low-lying areas.
If you live somewhere at risk of flooding, staff members say you should ensure your sump pump works, secure anything that could float away, and have a backup pump and generator on standby.
The water safety statement is in effect until next Monday, March 4th.
