Applications open for Ontario Senior Community Grants

Local groups that benefit seniors in the Leeds-Grenville region can now apply for funding from the provincial government.

MPP Steve Clark says applications are now open for the Ontario Senior Community Grant program, providing funding to nonprofit organizations for seniors.

“Every year, the government gives hundreds of Senior Community Grants, ranging from a small grant of $1,000 up to $25,000,” Clark says. “We just want to make sure that people who are supporting our seniors in the community, to make them remain active and stay connected, have the opportunity to access the funds from the ministry.”

Clark says there are several projects in the Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes riding that have used the funding over the years.

“We’ve had different programs to help [seniors] become active through fitness, through a variety of experiences both in and outside the riding, and that host community events,” he says. “So, it’s really an opportunity to have seniors better engaged and better connected in the community.”

Applications are being accepted until March 28th. Details for how to apply are available on the provincial government’s website.
