2024 Budget: potential increases in Administrative, Protective Services spending outlined

The Town of Prescott could see its budget continue to expand as 2024 continues.

In a report to council, staff have outlined their first draft of the budget for Administrative and Protective Services within the town.

If the draft goes unchanged, the administrative budget will rise by 3.1 percent and the protective services budget will increase by 1.2 percent.

The largest spending increases would go towards the Fire Department and paying council and administrators’ salaries.

Meanwhile, the town would save nearly $15,000 on police services thanks to a decrease in its annual payment to the Grenville County OPP detachment.

This draft would see the town’s overall budget increase by 5.9 percent compared to 2023.

Council will discuss the draft at their next meeting on Monday, January 8th. The next portion of the draft will be unveiled ahead of the following meeting later this month.
