Augusta Township mourns the loss of resident Jonas Cole

Augusta Mayor Jeff Shaver says his community will miss the contributions of a long-time resident who passed away over the holidays.

Flags have been lowered to half-mast within the town to honour Jonas Cole, who passed away on December 23rd at the age of 76.

Mayor Shaver says Cole contributed a lot of his time to the community over the years, and many people throughout the town will miss him.

“He was well known as the Fence Viewer, Livestock Evaluator and a member of the Planning Advisory Committee for Augusta Township,” he explains.

In his obituary, Cole’s loved ones say donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Diabetes Canada or the University Hospital Kingston Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

A memorial for Cole is being held on Saturday, January 6th, at Irvine Memorial Chapel in Maitland.
