Prescott may be spending nearly 20 percent more on health and social services next year.
Town staff have outlined the portion of the town’s budget going towards those services.
In a report, officials say the budget needs to rise to $1,380,586, an 18.6 percent increase compared to the 2023 budget.
Some of the costs includes a bigger contribution to the St. Lawrence Lodge long-term care home, alongside other increases in spending for things like children’s services and community housing.
Meanwhile, the town will be contributing nearly $25,000 less to the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit in 2024.
Mayor Gauri Shankar and Prescott’s council will discuss the report at their next meeting on Monday, December 11th.
Details on the town’s plans for Administration and Protective Services, meanwhile, will be outlined ahead of the January 8th council meeting.
