The largest dock in Prescott’s marina is being replaced, and officials say they don’t expect it to have a negative impact on next year’s budget.
At this week’s council meeting, the town voted in favor of moving forward with its project to replace the E dock at the marina.
The dock was first installed in the 1980s, alongside some smaller docks that have already been replaced. Staff members say it’s past its useful life.
Approving this project is one of the town’s first moves of its 2024 budget process.
Treasurer Matt Armstrong says getting it approved quickly means they can hopefully get it replaced ahead of the Victoria Day long weekend.
He also says the money for the replacement will come out of the marina’s revenue and the town infrastructure reserve, and he doesn’t expect it to seriously affect the operating budget for next year.
The town is now looking for a contractor to handle the project.
