Make sure not to throw anything from a parade float during Prescott’s upcoming Christmas celebration.
That’s a message from Prescott’s Fire Administrator, Tracy Day. Moose FM spoke with Day to learn the rules for people planning to enter floats into this year’s Light Up the Night parade.
“Our big rule we’ve implemented is not to be throwing anything,” Day explains. “No candy, fliers, handouts. If a float or an entry has something to hand out to the crowd, they need to have some people on the ground walking with the float to hand them out. We want to minimize any small children, or anyone, coming out into the street during the nighttime parade.”
The parade is happening on November 17th. If you want to enter a float, Day says you don’t need to pay any fees or pre-register at all.
“Essentially, we just ask participants that want to get into the parade to show up at [South Grenville District High School’s] parking lot, at the south entrance,” she says, “and firefighters will actually line them up as they come in for the parade, and at 7:00 PM, they leave the parking lot and off they go.”
Participants need to be in the parking lot by 6:00 PM on the 17th.
