The Executive Director for the South Grenville Food Bank says her team will be collecting donations in a few weeks to help get through the late fall and early winter.
Bonnie Pidgeon Coogler says the organization is running a food drive during the Thanksgiving long weekend, before settling into what she calls a “quiet” holiday season.
She says the food bank won’t host events for a few weeks to give the Kinsmen Club of Prescott space for “Spirit of Giving,” providing families with Christmas dinner and toys for their kids.
“They help our clients and the community at large,” Coogler explains. “We’re too small of a town to have two big food drives, but please don’t forget us at Christmas. We always can use donations, and the generosity of the community is what keeps us going.”
If you want to donate at the Thanksgiving weekend event, Coogler says they’ll be at O’Reilly’s Independent Grocer and the Maitland Fire Hall from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 7th.
