The provincial government is sending some funding to the local OPP detachment to buy new security cameras.
The Grenville County OPP detachment has received $50,000 from the province’s “Ontario Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Grant Program,” a fund that helps police services upgrade and expand their camera systems.
$2.8 million in total is being provided to police services this year through the initiative.
Steve Clark, the MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, says he’s proud to see the government place a priority on “supporting safer streets and communities in Leeds and Grenville.”
He adds the funding will help deter crime, support OPP officers, and provide security for residents.
We’ve contacted the Grenville County detachment to learn where money will be spent.
