“Every Kid in our Communities” Leeds Grenville has conducted a survey on local transportation needs.
Twenty-three percent of those residents surveyed report difficulty in accessing things like medical and community service programs and appointments, food and personal supplies as well as recreation and employment. The report also revealed higher transportation needs for those living in lower income brackets and the elderly.
The survey results also showed that people who did not have access to transportation felt isolated. They also felt a lack of independence which affected their quality of life. The report recommended that a rural transportation service be developed to serve the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.
