Police officers say the owner of a construction business is facing fraud charges in connection with 11 victims across the OPP’s East Region.
Officers say the investigation began last year at the Grenville County detachment, after receiving reports that the business had not completed contracted work at several people’s homes.
They say victims lost more than a million dollars in total.
The owner of the company, a 46-year-old from Luskville, Quebec, is facing 22 charges, including eleven counts of theft over $5,000.
Officers say you should be careful and do research into contracting companies before signing any contracts or spending any money.
If you suspect you’ve been a victim of a scam like this, you can report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by calling 1-888-495-8501.
