Stay away from Brockville, Almonte and North Elmsley if you want to hit the beach in the next few days.
That’s from the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit’s latest round of beach water testing results.
Staff members from the organization collect samples from local beaches every week to test for e. coli, a kind of bacteria that can give swimmers ear, eye and throat infections.
Almonte Beach, the Rideau Ferry Yacht Club beach, and the beach in Brockville’s St. Lawrence Park all have high concentrations of the bacteria, staff say.
They’ve been added to an online list of unsafe beaches and signs have been posted at all three warning swimmers to go elsewhere.
The organization’s testing results are posted every Friday during the summer.
