Beacon Bags hosting human trafficking awareness event next week

A local charity is partnering with police and victim support organizations to raise awareness about human trafficking.

Beacon Bags, a Prescott-based group that provides clothes and other essential items to victims and survivors of human trafficking, is hosting an awareness event in Brockville next week.

The seminar is being run with help from Victim Services of Leeds and Grenville and the Grenville County OPP detachment, covering topics like risk factors that make people vulnerable to human trafficking, and warning signs that it’s happening.

It’s happening at Highway Pentecostal Church on August 8th, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

Staff members say it’s free to attend, but you’ll need to register in advance. You can sign up to attend by emailing the organization.
