Reminder: Prescott’s total burn ban still in effect

Despite some recent rainfall, residents are being reminded to avoid open-air fires.

Prescott Fire Department staff members say the town’s total fire ban is remaining in effect with no changes.

That means burn barrels, brush burning, campfires, fireworks, and all other open-air burning is prohibited.

However, you can still use your charcoal or propane barbecue if you have one.

The ban came into effect last week because of hot, dry conditions that started at the beginning of June.

The fire department is monitoring the situation and re-evaluating the burn ban daily.
