Local high school student competing at North American Indigenous Games this July

South Mountain’s Tala Brant-Berry will be suiting up as a goalkeeper for a soccer team at an Indigenous sports competition in Halifax next month.

Brant-Berry will be playing for Indigenous Team Ontario’s under-19 women’s soccer team during the North American Indigenous Games.

The event will see athletes from more than 750 Indigenous Nations across North America celebrating their culture and competing against each other. It’s running from July 15th to 23rd.

Staff members at the Upper Canada District School Board and North Dundas District High School say they’re proud of Brant-Berry and are wishing her luck at the competition.

We’ve reached out to Brant-Berry for an interview to learn more.
