MyView Youth Film Festival: finalists, judges, screening date announced

Nine eastern Ontario kids have a chance to win hundreds of dollars in prizes for short films they spent the first months of the year creating.

The finalists have been announced for the annual MyView Youth Film Festival. The films were created by children living all over the region in communities like Kemptville, Ottawa, Merrickville and Cornwall.

Each young filmmaker is eligible for a $1,000 grand prize, as well as smaller prizes for the best film in their age category and a $750 prize for the film that does the most to showcase the community it was made in.

The winners will be decided at a screening event at the Brockville Arts Centre on June 14th.

A panel of judges, including United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Warden Nancy Peckford, past winner Theresa Graham and Brockville City Councillor Cameron Wales, will decide the winners.

The event is free to attend, but if you can’t make it that day, you can watch the finalists ahead of time on the MyView Youth Film Festival website.
