Roadside weed spraying begins soon in Leeds and Grenville

If you don’t want chemicals sprayed on your lawn this spring, you’ll need to put up a sign.

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is preparing to begin its annual roadside spraying program later this month.

It’ll see contractors spraying pesticides and herbicides along stretches of several county roads, on all county guide rails outside of Rideau Lakes, and on a selection of municipal roads all over the region.

The goal is to keep invasive plant and animal species, like giant hogweed and LDD moths, out of Leeds and Grenville.

If you live on a road that’s set to be sprayed but want your property left out, you can put up a “no spraying” sign on your front lawn.

The United Counties website has a map of all the roads where spraying will be done, and details on how to get or create a “no spraying” sign.
