Hockey Hall of Famer announced as guest for Gord Brown Memorial Golf Tournament

A man with ten Stanley Cup championship rings will be helping the YMCA of Eastern Ontario and the United Way raise money in a few weeks.

The two organizations have announced that Larry “Big Bird” Robinson, a former Montreal Canadiens player born and raised in Winchester, will be attending this year’s Gord Brown Memorial Golf Tournament.

The annual event raises money for both organizations, with all the funding staying in the Leeds-Grenville region and going towards local programming.

It’s named after former Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MP Gord Brown, who passed away in 2018.

“We are extremely excited and proud to have one of Canada’s hockey legends join us for this important event for our community,” says United Way of Leeds and Grenville Executive Director Trish Boute. “Larry has done so many things to support local charities in our area. We can’t thank him enough for joining us and helping us raise funds for those most in need.”

The tournament is happening at Smuggler’s Glen Golf Course in Lansdowne on August 16th. You can find more details on the YMCA of Eastern Ontario website.
