“Tom’s Bucket List Run” raising money for WDMH

A cancer survivor is celebrating his 80th birthday by raising money for the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WMDH).

Tom Clapp, who is celebrating more than 10 years of surviving prostate cancer, will be running in the 5-kilometre race at this year’s Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, an annual event that also features everything from kids’ races to full marathons.

While he runs, he’ll be collecting money for cancer research, with the goal of raising $80,000. Half the money will go towards WDMH’s Cancer Care Navigator Fund, helping support patients in our community directly, while the rest will go towards the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.

“We want to thank Tom and his team for this amazing fundraiser on behalf of the WDMH Foundation,” says Managing Director Kristen Casselman, who adds that Clapp has been a major supporter of other fundraising initiatives over the years.

“He always goes above and beyond to support his local hospital,” she adds. “We hope everyone who is able will give their support to Tom.”

The run is happening May 27th. You can find a link to Tom’s fundraising page here.
