Applications for first moose tag allocation of 2023 open this weekend

Hunters making plans for this fall will have their first chance to apply for moose tags in a few days.

Ontario Fish and Wildlife is reminding residents that applications to join the draw for its first allocation of moose tags open on Saturday, April 1st.

In order to apply, you’ll need to pay a fee of $15. You’ll be able to specify what wildlife management unit you’d like to hunt in, what type of moose you’d like to hunt, and what weapon you plan to use.

If you don’t receive a tag in the first allocation, you’ll be able to enter a second-chance allocation draw in June for any leftover tags without paying another fee.

Applications to join this first allocation will be accepted until May 1st. If you get one, you’ll need to claim it before June 7th.
