Big Brothers Big Sisters “urgently recruiting” In-School Mentors in Prescott

A local charity that helps kids in the Leeds-Grenville region needs volunteers to help with a child’s extracurricular activities at school.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville is “urgently recruiting” new volunteers for its In-School Mentor program in Prescott.

Volunteers will be tasked with spending one hour per week with a local child at their school, doing non-learning activities like trying sports or board games together.

Staff members say the program helps improve children’s self-esteem, and can give them a trusted adult to talk to outside their family or school faculty.

In-school mentors are only expected to work during the school year, so if you sign up to take part, you won’t need to spend time volunteering during the summer break or any other holidays.

The organization also urgently needs volunteers in Toledo and Merrickville. You can find details for how to register for the program on the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville website.
