A local figure skater and high school student has received a commendation from Mayor Gauri Shankar.
Kadynn Morrison, a student at South Grenville District High School and a figure skater at the Brockville Figure Skating Club, received a Mayoral Scroll from council at this week’s meeting.
According to Shankar, she received the honour for her performance in some recent competitions.
“Kadynn recently finished 3rd at Skate Canada Challenge [in Regina, Saskatchewan], and then a gold medal at the Elizabeth Manley Provincial Series,” Shankar said at the meeting.
Morrison, born and raised in Spencerville, has trained in the region for several years, including at the figure skating clubs in Spencerville and Prescott.
“I’d just like to thank everyone for their support, and for this recognition,” she said. “It means a lot to me, and I really do appreciate it.”
Shankar concluded by saying he looks forward to seeing Morrison continue to compete going forward.
