Leeds-Grenville fire departments partnering for February food drive

A group of fire departments across the Leeds-Grenville region are running an initiative to bring in donations for local food banks starting next week.

The Chief Fire Officers Association of Leeds and Grenville, a group made up of Fire Chiefs from municipalities all over the United Counties, announced the “Fundraising Food Drive” on Wednesday.

According to the announcement, local food banks are seeing a significant increase in demand, mostly from families with kids.

“Please help us ensure that no one in our communities is going hungry this winter,” it reads.

The food drive will be running from February 1st to the 11th, with donations collected at fire stations.

More details will be announced on social media over the coming days.

We’ve reached out to the organization’s President, North Grenville Fire Chief John Okum, to learn more.
