Registration open for 2023 Edwardsburgh-Cardinal lifeguarding courses

Despite the cold weather outside, the Township of Edwardsburgh-Cardinal is making preparations for some of its summer programming.

The township has opened registration for its “lifesaving instructional programs,” offering beginner-level lifeguard training at both its Johnstown and Cardinal pools.

If you complete all those programs and receive “Bronze Cross” lifesaving certification from the Lifesaving Society, Canada’s volunteer-run governing body for lifeguards, you may be eligible to take the “National Lifesaving Certification” course and become a certified National Lifeguard.

That program is also being offered by the township, but the venue hasn’t been announced yet. Courses to learn how to give swimming and lifeguarding lessons, run by members of the Lifesaving Society, are also being offered.

The programs will all run in June, July and August. You can find more information, and registration prices for each course, on the township website.
