Ontario Fish and Wildlife: Family Fishing Weekend one month away

Ontario families will have an opportunity in a few weeks to go out and give fishing a try for free.

The first Family Fishing Weekend of the year is happening from February 18th to 20th.

Ontario Fish and Wildlife says the event allows everyone in the province to fish without purchasing a license.

Anyone taking part will still need to follow all of the province’s recreational fishing regulations, and carry some kind of government-issued ID with their name and date of birth, like their drivers’ license.

You’ll be treated as if you have a “conservation” fishing license during the weekend, meaning you’ll have smaller catch and possession limits than people who pay for a “sport” license.

You can view the full 2023 Ontario fishing regulations on the provincial government’s website.
