Some changes might be coming to the Town of Prescott’s overnight winter parking restrictions.
The current by-law bans all roadside parking in town between midnight and 7:00 AM, except for emergency vehicles.
According to a report submitted to council by staff members, the town is considering altering the restrictions, to account for extenuating circumstances.
Examples provided include someone leaving their car parked at the side of the road to avoid drinking and driving, or workers making home visits as part of their job while the restrictions are active.
The proposed by-law amendment would allow officers to cancel or reduce the fine incurred from violating the restriction, or extend the time you have to pay the fine, in case of extenuating circumstances.
Town council will cover the report at their next meeting.
