Prescott Mayor recognizes Employees, Board and Committee members’ service

Gauri Shankar says it’s a great honor to be able to commend Prescott residents for their work with the Town over the years.

Shankar recognized an array of town employees, as well as residents who have served on its various Boards and Committees, for their work at this week’s council meeting.

“It’s a great thing to do, thanking our staff and thanking our volunteers,” he says. “That’s what makes a small town, is a good staff which is part of the team, and it’s great volunteers that give their time when the only return is our gratitude and the town’s gratitude.”

The town commemorates retiring employees and workers who have been with it for extended periods of time every year, as part of a policy instituted in 2018 to reward them for their dedication and commitment.

It usually happens during the last meeting of November, but was delayed because of the municipal election in October that saw Shankar become the town’s new Mayor.

Six town employees were commemorated, including two who are retiring. 14 volunteer Board and Committee members who won’t be returning for this term of office were also recognized. You can see a full list on the Town of Prescott’s website.
