WDMH, KDH calling launch of “Epic” information platform a success

Frank Vassallo says the Kemptville District Hospital’s (KDH) new online health information platform has “ushered in a new era in health care” at the facility.

The platform, called “Epic,” launched November 5th at KDH, as well as the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) and another location in Deep River.

The system makes it easier for workers and patients to access medical records by consolidating them in one place.

“The credit for the successful launch goes to our dedicated care teams at each of our hospitals, who spent many months training and preparing for go-live,” explains Vassallo, the Chief Executive Officer at KDH.

All three hospitals had to reduce some services for the first few weeks after the platform launched, to give their nurses and workers time to acclimate to using the system.

“We also want to thank the patients and families in our communities for their patience and understanding as our teams adapt to the new system,” says WDMH CEO Cholly Boland.

You can find details for how to use the Epic platform on both the WDMH and KDH websites.
