John McAllister will continue to be the Chair of the Upper Canada District School Board’s (UCDSB) Board of Trustees.
McAllister was acclaimed to the position at Wednesday night’s board meeting, the first of the new term of office. He was the only candidate nominated for Chair.
“I’m humbled, and I’m honoured, frankly, to serve as your chair, and I sincerely hope we’ll work well together,” McAllister said after being acclaimed.
He went on to compare his excitement about the future to a child on their first day of class, and congratulated the new members of the board on winning their elections.
“You people equate to new ideas and new perspectives, and I welcome this,” he said. “Our common goal, we must never forget, is to promote student achievement and wellbeing.”
All the board members were sworn into office at the meeting. They’re expected to serve for the entire term of office, which ends in 2026.
