Mayfield Retirement Residence unveiling “Poppy Project” display Remembrance Day

Community groups and residents are working together to create a Remembrance Day display for veterans at a local retirement home.

Faith Miller, the Community Relations Manager at Prescott’s Mayfield Retirement Residence, says her team is working on what they’re calling the “Poppy Project,” where volunteers have created special poppies with messages for veterans on them.

“We provided all the supplies,” Miller explains, “and our partners are helping with the assembling and message writing.”

According to Miller, an unveiling ceremony is in the works. “All poppies will be collected in advance and be displayed by 9am on Friday, November 11th,” she says.

If you want to see them for yourself, after they’re unveiled, they’ll be visible to the public outside the retirement home at 248 Park Street.
