The local Royal Canadian Legion branch will be collecting donations for the next few weeks to help residents at Wellington House and Mayfield Retirement Residence celebrate the holidays.
According to an announcement on the Legion’s social media, the group will be preparing gift baskets for people living at both facilities, using items donated by community members.
Legion members are specifically looking for entertainment items like board games and puzzle books, hygiene products like toothbrushes and shampoo bottles, and other things seniors might appreciate like nail polish and hard candy.
“Donations can be brought to the Legion, where we will pack and deliver the baskets in time for Christmas,” the announcement reads. “Please join us in spreading some joy to our seniors at Christmas.”
