East Region OPP seeking help identifying suspect in cell phone tower mischiefs

Police are warning residents to stay watchful whenever they’re near a cell phone tower.

Officers from the OPP’s East Region Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services branches, in partnership with Ontario’s Fire Marshall, are investigating a series of mischiefs and fires at towers in the region.

East Region Media Relations Coordinator Erin Cranton says 20 towers in the area have been targeted so far.

“If you observe anything suspicious at or near a cell tower, please contact police immediately,” she says.

According to Cranton, officers are also looking for a specific suspect (pictured above) connected to these incidents.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any other information that could help investigators is being asked to contact the OPP’s tip line at 1-844-677-9400.

If you’d rather submit a tip anonymously, Cranton says you can reach out to Ontario Crime Stoppers, a non-profit charity that works as a middle-man between people with tips and police departments across the province, by calling 1-888-222-8477, or visiting the organization’s website.
