South Nation Conservation: $4,000+ raised for “Free Tree” program at golf tournament

Members of South Nation Conservation (SNC) are thanking the participants and sponsors that helped with a recent fundraising event.

According to Kelsey Smith, the organization’s Stewardship and Outreach Assistant, the fundraising golf tournament held in early September in Casselman brought in “more than $4,000” for the organization.

“Proceeds will support [SNC’s] popular Free Tree Pick Up program next spring which helps hand out 10,000 free trees to residents in each of SNC’s 16 member municipalities in Eastern Ontario,” Smith says.

John Mesman, SNC’s Managing Director of Conservation Lands and Community Outreach, says seeing people come together for the tournament was “inspiring.”

“This is one of our favourite fundraising activities and it brings people together, outside, where they can enjoy their local environment,” Mesman says. “It was great to bring it back again this year, after a two-year pandemic hiatus.”
