Grenville County OPP detachment thanking resident for anonymous gift card donation

Police officers say a resident’s “random act of kindness” will help struggling people in the Grenville County region.

On social media, officers from the local OPP detachment say they received a package on the weekend, containing a note and several hundred dollars in gas station and Tim Hortons’ gift cards, from someone listed as “Anonymous M.”

“Not everyone can do the kind of work you do, but it is clear that you are a leader,” the note reads. “Thank you for having such a strong moral compass, combined with empathy. Your kindness is setting the example for future generations as well.”

According to a Facebook post on the OPP’s East Region page, the cards will go towards supporting low-income people and families in Prescott, North Grenville, Edwardsburgh-Cardinal, Augusta and Merrickville-Wolford.

“Officers across the province come into contact with people who are struggling to get by, whether it be due to insecure housing, joblessness, or a combination of different stressors,” the post reads. “Donations to your local food bank or shelter and random acts of kindness like this, can go a long way in making a difference in someone’s life.”

Police are thanking the anonymous donor for their generosity. You can read the note on the OPP’s East Region social media pages.
