Two Prescott landmarks nominated for Architectural Conservancy Ontario Heritage Awards

A charity dedicated to preserving historic buildings in Ontario has nominated two local projects for its annual award ceremony.

According to Architectural Conservancy Ontario Program Coordinator Alex MacKinnon, the family that now owns St. John the Evangelist Anglican Parish Hall has been nominated for its “Paul Oberman Award for Adaptive Reuse,” for their work to convert the long-abandoned church into a family home.

Meanwhile, the team behind the Fort Wellington National Historic Site has been nominated for the organization’s “Margaret and Nicholas Hill Cultural Heritage Landscape Award” for their rehabilitations and restorations to the 200-year-old military fortification.

Fort Wellington is the only nominee in its category, while the Anglican Parish Hall is one of two nominees alongside a church restoration project in Amherstburg.
