Training begins at WDMH, KDH as staff prepare for digital “Epic” platform launch

“November 5th is just over a month away, and we’ll be ready.”

That’s Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frank Vassallo, talking about his team’s preparations for the upcoming launch of its new “Epic” digital health information platform.

“Our teams have been working tirelessly to train and prepare for Epic,” Vassallo says. “They see the benefits first-hand.”

Vassallo, alongside the CEOs of the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) and a third hospital in Deep River, announced plans to transition to the platform in July.

The platform, which is already in use at several Ottawa area hospitals, consolidates medical records into one place, making them easier for both patients and hospital staff to access.

WDMH communications lead Jane Adams says some services at all three hospitals will be reduced when the platform launches.

More details will be provided on the hospital websites and social media channels leading up to November 5th,” Adams explains. “Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
