No unsafe beaches in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark in last Health Unit tests

If you’re planning a family beach trip for the Labour Day long weekend, you can safely swim in any local beach you want.

That’s according to the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit’s summer beach water monitoring program.

The initiative tests water samples from local beaches every week in the summer for E. coli bacteria, which can give swimmers ear, eye and throat infections when exposed to it in high concentrations.

This week’s results show that every single beach the Health Unit monitors is safe, including Merrickville Beach, which was listed as unsafe last week.

This ninth batch of results is the last of the season, as the program shuts down for the year entering the fall. It’ll return in the summer of 2023.
