Price Point Johnstown, SG Food Bank thanking “Full Tank” contributors

Amber Vanderzwet says the “Full Tank” initiative for the South Grenville Food Bank is well on the way to hitting its goal for this year.

Vanderzwet, a Client Care representative from Price Point Auto and Detailing in Johnstown, says her company’s annual initiative has brought in 30 backpacks for kids in low-income families in the South Grenville region to take with them back to school.

“We’ve even had two special donations come in from two separate community members,” Vanderzwet says. “One is a special backpack for a girl going back to school, complete with hairbrushes and scrunchies, certain barrettes and stuff to make them feel special.”

“We had another community member stop in yesterday with a backpack they put together for a between 12 and 14 year old boy,” she continues, “that has everything they’re going to need to go back to school, including a calculator and protractor kit.”

Vanderzwet is thanking everyone who has contributed to the campaign so far, as is South Grenville Food Bank Executive Director Bonnie Pidgeon Cougler.

“We’re very lucky, because we have a very giving community, and I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for everything they do for us,” Cougler says.

The “Full Tank” initiative is collecting food, hygiene products and school supplies for kids in low-income families throughout the month of August. You can read more about the campaign here.
