Prescott dedicating memorial plaque to Joanne Crack August 10th

The Town of Prescott is hosting a ceremony next week to commemorate a late resident.

Town staff have announced plans to dedicate a plaque to Joanne Crack.

Crack, who passed away in 2019, was a boat-watching enthusiast who hosted a popular local Facebook group called “The Prescott Anchor,” dedicated to sharing information on shipping and boating traffic in the St. Lawrence Seaway.

“The plaque will be mounted at the base of an authentic ship’s anchor,” says Economic Development Officer Dana Valentyne, “to be installed at Prescott’s Port of Call, located at the bottom of Centre Street just west of RiverWalk Park.”

The ceremony is happening at 2:30 in the afternoon on August 10th.
