New decorative light poles for Riverwalk District approved

Fourteen lighthouse-themed street lights are coming to the downtown core of our community.

The Town of Prescott approved building the new lights at this week’s council meeting.

Mayor Brett Todd says he has ideas for expanding upon this project in the future.

“I really would love to see [council] go all in on this and have that lighting go right from one end of town to the other,” he says.

Doing that would help guide tourists throughout town and encourage them to stay longer, Todd says.

“If you’ve got somebody that doesn’t know the town, they come direct to their one destination, and they’re gone again,” he says. “So, beach and out, or Fort Wellington and out. So, I definitely support this, but I do think it needs to be expanded as soon as humanly possible.”

The project is being partially funded by the Prescott Business Improvement Area, a group of stores and businesses in the downtown core, and is expected to cost the municipality $9,000.
