Augusta Township hosting “Open Gardens” showcase in Maitland

The Township of Augusta is inviting residents to take a weekend stroll through two local gardens.

The Maitland Garden of Hope and Van Berlo Gardens will both be opening for free tours for the township’s “Open Gardens” event.

Mary Ann Van Berlo, the owner of the Van Berlo Gardens, says both greenspaces will be in full bloom during the showcase.

“The two large, ornamental gardens in Maitland include many uncommon plant varieties and amazing garden art,” she adds. “Allow at least one hour for your visit to each garden so you can enjoy a relaxing stroll and take in nature’s beauty.”

Admission is going to be free, but donations are being collected to support Sherwood Park Manor, a long-term care home in Brockville, as well as Our Kenyan Kids, a charity founded in Brockville that supports poor and sick youth in Kenya.

The event is happening on July 23rd, with a rain date scheduled for the 24th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
