SD&G United Counties announce two-week partial closure of County Road 2

A major road closure is coming to South Dundas in a few weeks.

The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) has announced plans to close County Road 2 at Doran Creek, to replace a culvert that’s nearing the end of its service life.

“This project, which is expected to last 14 days starting on August 2, will have a significant impact on travel between Morrisburg and Iroquois in South Dundas,” the announcement reads. “A lengthy detour must be created to facilitate the flow of traffic.”

The planned detour spans more than 31 kilometres, taking drivers through County Roads 31, 16 and 18. Local traffic will still be able to use County Road 2 while the work is being done.

United Counties staff say you can expect the culvert replacement to be finished before the 14-day deadline. “Incentives to complete the work before the deadline have been placed in our agreement with contractors,” they say.

You can find more details, including a map of the detour, on the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry website.
