Prescott recognizes National Indigenous Peoples’ Day

“The Town of Prescott acknowledges the rich culture, heritage and achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Metis Peoples in Canada.”

That Mayor Brett Todd proclaiming June 21st as National Indigenous Peoples’ Day. 

Todd made the declaration at this week’s council meeting Monday night. He says he also wants the day to make local Indigenous Peoples feel welcome.

“The Town of Prescott strives to be an inclusive community and encourages all residents to reflect, learn, and take action in a meaningful way towards reconciliation in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples,” he says.

National Indigenous Peoples’ Day is an annual event commemorating Indigenous Culture that’s been celebrated across Canada since 1996.
