One of the players suiting up for the Hamilton Bulldogs tonight comes from our area.
Gavin White, a defenseman born and raised in Brockville, is joining the Bulldogs for the Memorial Cup.
White spent his minor hockey career playing for local teams like the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings and Upper Canada Cyclones and spent two years with the Brockville Braves before joining the Bulldogs for the 2019-20 season.
During his tenure with the Braves, White played 92 games across the regular season and playoffs and had 40 points total.
We’ve reached out to Brockville Braves Assistant GM and Head Scout David Graham for comment.
The Memorial Cup, which sees winning teams from Canada’s three major junior hockey leagues compete with a fourth host team to decide a national champion, is being held in St. John, New Brunswick this year.
White and the Bulldogs will play against the Edmonton Oil Kings, the Shawinigan Cataractes, and the Saint John Sea Dogs.
As a Bulldog, White helped lead his team to the Ontario Hockey League finals, where they defeated the Windsor Spitfire in seven games.
The Bulldogs and Sea Dogs kick off the Memorial Cup’s first game tonight at 6:00 PM.
