United Counties schedule three “Hazardous Waste Days” this summer

If you’ve got rat poison, pesticides, pool cleaning chemicals, or other dangerous waste around your house, you’ll have three chances to get rid of it for free over the next few weeks.

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville has announced three hazardous waste collection days, in July, August and September.

Anyone that lives in the Leeds-Grenville area, the Town of Prescott or the Town of Gananoque can bring their items for safe disposal, except for people living in Brockville, since that city holds its own hazardous waste collection days.

Some items, like firearm ammunition, explosives and electronics, won’t be accepted. You can find a full list of what you can and can’t drop off on the United Counties website.

On the first Hazardous Waste Day, you’ll be able to drop off your items at the fairgrounds in Lombardy from 8:30 AM until 2:00 PM July 10th.

The next collection day is on August 20th, in Leeds, followed by one more on September 17th, at locations in North Grenville and Spencerville.
