If you’re planning to get married in Prescott soon, you have until Canada Day before the price goes up.
Town council passed a by-law amendment at this week’s council meeting, raising the price of a marriage license to $125.
The price for a civil marriage ceremony is also rising, to $300 during business hours, or $350 on evenings and weekends.
Right now, a license costs $100, and $250 for a ceremony. Those prices were set in 2009.

Town staff began looking into increasing the fees in May, to bring the prices in line with other municipalities in the region and make up for losses elsewhere.
The change comes into effect starting July 1st.
