MyView Youth Film Festival returns for 2022

If you’ve got a young aspiring filmmaker in your life, there’s a contest with $2,000 in prizes they might want to enter.

The MyView Youth Film Festival, an annual event for participants ages 10-24, is returning for its 8th annual event.

The festival began in 2013 as a North Grenville-centric event, but entries are now accepted from all over Leeds and Grenville as well as several other nearby communities.

This year, there are thousands of dollars in prizes to win, including awards for the best overall submission, the best movie within each age category, and a new “I Love My Community” award for a submission that spotlights a local community.

MyView committee member Rebecca Shams is encouraging participants to find a topic they’re passionate about for their film.

“This generation of young people have all kinds of new issues to tackle; like climate change, pandemics and social media,” she says. “Youth are extremely well informed and I look forward to seeing what they have to say!”

If you’re interested in signing up to take part or reading more of the rules for the competition, visit the MyView Youth Film Festival website. The deadline to submit a video for the contest is October 1st.
