Craig Baird: Podcast about Prescott history releasing mid-May

“I use a lot of first-hand accounts, old newspapers and library archives, things like that.”

That’s Craig Baird, the producer and host of “Canadian History Ehx”, discussing his research process for his podcast. The Town of Prescott announced earlier this week that it’s partnering with Baird to produce an episode of the show about our community.

Baird says episodes of the show focusing on the history of smaller communities take him about three weeks.

“Often, that takes a lot more research,” he says. “I need to go through a lot more newspapers to find information, depending on the community, and get archival audio and things like that.”

In addition to talking about important people and events in Prescott’s history, Baird says he wants to spotlight some of the historic buildings in town.

“I want somebody to be driving down the road, listening to the episode, and go, ‘oh, wow, that sounds really cool, let’s take this turn,’ and go check out this old church, or this museum, or whatever it might be.”

According to Baird, the episode should be finished and available for listening in mid-May. It will be published on his show’s site as well as the Town of Prescott web page. You’ll also be able to hear it at Prescott’s museum.
