Local high school students win provincial curling championship in Kingston

Emma and Ava Acres are preparing for their next competition after a gold medal finish at the under-18 Provincial Curling Championship.

The sisters, both students at North Dundas District High School in Chesterville, won the tournament alongside their teammates Liana Flanagan and Mya Sharpe on April 3rd.

Emma says the team’s trip to the championship began in 2021. “We won a qualifier in December to get entry that made us one of the eight best U18 teams across Ontario,” she says.

Thanks to the win, the team will be representing the province in the National Curling Championships in Oakville next month.

“My sister and I are proud to be able to play against teams from across the country while wearing the Ontario crest on our backs,” says Emma.
