Rideau Valley Conservation Authority issues “High Water Safety” statement for region

Heavy rainfall in the local weather forecasts mean there’s a chance of flooding in low-lying areas over the next few days, according to the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority.

The organization has issued what it calls a “High Water Safety” statement for our region, saying it expects water levels to rise because of the rain.

“Extreme caution should be exercised by everyone when near local water bodies,” the statement says. “Parents should inform their children of the risks and provide appropriate supervision. Pets should be leashed near all bodies of water.”

The statement is in effect until April 21st at 5:00 PM, unless the forecast changes.
